Wow,
who would have thought that upon the mere hearing of Christian Community Health
Fellowship (CCHF) that I would actually become employed by an affiliated clinic?
In my desire to do God’s work full time, I stumbled upon CCHF, which seemed
like a perfect marriage my skills (health promoter) and God’s calling on my
life (to serve Him full time). Upon hearing about CCHF, I got to attend my
first conference in 2006 with not many promising opportunities for employment
afterward. However, after attending the conference this past year in 2012, I
saw Dr. David Kim of Beacon Christian Community Health Clinic, and from there, conversations
regarding possible job opportunities there began.
After much prayer, seeking God’s will,
and waiting for His timing, I received the call that would change my life! I
got a job—not only at a clinic that was a part of CCHF but also one that was in
a city (New York City) in which I have wanted to live since visiting there in
2010. I trusted God and packed my bags to come to Beacon Christian Community
Health Clinic this winter. My first
official day on the job was December 24, 2012, and culture shock has taken
place, as my Midwestern accent often gets mistaken for that of a Southern
belle. I enjoy learning so many new things at once—a new workplace setting, new
groups of people with whom to interact, etc.
CCHF has been an integral part of my spiritual growth and has
helped me to realize that I can bring Jesus to my workplace in a real, practical
way and that the two do not have to be separate. I look forward to the journey on
which God has me here at Beacon Christian Community Health Clinic. I have also
claimed a verse that I was taught in an inner city summer mission’s trip—Micah
6:8—as I do His work here:”What does the Lord God require of me? But to do
justice, love mercy, and walk humbly before my God.” I hope that I can do a
good job of living out this verse.
